Wendy Knits - Ravelry Knit Alongs - My Stash

I'm knitting along on Ravelry. I won't fulfill my latest KAL, because today is the last day. I am 2 inches on the leg of a toe-up sock and still have the cuff to finish.

There is a lot of sock knitting in the future. My sock stash is small, but will keep me busy for many moons!

SOS 2008

My Needles are empty and I'm ready for the Summer of Socks KAL to begin tomorrow.

Here are my latest socks.

This yarn just insisted on being knit! I know I wouldn't have picked this out at the LYS, but I wasn't realizing how orange these were when I purchased online.
But you know... I love these socks.

Host Gifts

I have 3 pair of socks ready to go to family next week. Two are for my sock fans. This will be the first pair for one of my brothers. I'm hoping he doesn't have a wool allergy.

These are worsted wt socks, created on 2 circular needles.

Still Knitting

Socks rule! Last month I participated in the first round of the Sock Knitters Pentathlon. It was a great learning experience. I did my first toe ups! Learned magic cast on and the toes look great!

By the time I finished the toe, I realized the varigated yarn wasn't going to work for the patterning.

I used the smallest needles I've ever used, a 2.75mm. The pattern suggested smaller, but I didn't have them, at the time :). I learned to read a chart to create the diamond pattern. It was the first time I picked up wrapped stitches on the heel. Binding off in ribbing was also a first.

During the pentathlon, I started exploring Ravelry more. I have loaded all my knitting projects, which wasn't difficult to do since I've been knitting less than a year. Ravelry is endless inspiration.

I even picked up my crochet hook and made a bookmark after seeing the results others had.

I'm on the third pair of worsted weight socks that I am taking to gift my biggest sock fans. My Dad & brother. They love them in their boots. Pics are on Ravelry and Flickr ( see my links).
I had to punt when my circular needle fell apart. I didn't want to wait for the replacement, so put a bamboo needle to work . Worsted wt yarn should be forgiving enought to allow the needle mix.

Kitty gets a toy.

And she feels she must continue to inspect my knittings for any dangerous or fun loving beasties that may lurk within the skeins.

2 Pairs Completed

I had enough size 4 DPNs to do 2 socks at the same time. And enough yarn in 2 skeins of James Brett Marble for both pairs.
Daughters differ from mine in having ribbing down to the toes.

Socks

I missed taking the knitting class, so I signed up for the next Saturday class at my LYS.
Socks... who would of thunk...

First time on DPNs

Daughter was excited. She wanted the gauntlets from Interweave Knits Fall 2007. The pattern is fair isle. I converted it to my gauge and a multi colored yarn.

Starting the bobbles on the first row of my DPNs was not easy.. but am happy with the results. I retained the purl rows from the pattern to give texture. She picked out the yarn. The yarn is Freedom Spirit by Twilleys of Stamford. 100% wool.

scarf tied hat

I knit this from a pattern in Knit Simple magazine. I substituted Lamb's Pride Worsted and used a size 9 needle.
I found an error in the pattern. Figured out what it should be. I wrote to the magazine and happily their correction matched what I had already done.
I finished this in August, and daughter has been anxious for the snow that finally arrived this week!

knitting class - vest

I finished my vest on Aug 10th. The same day my 4 session knitting class finished. What fun! I used circulars. Knitted Continental Style while the teacher was teaching English method. And just fell in love all over again with knitting and yarn.
The yarn is Plymouth Encore.
I still need to block it. Why is that so intimidating? And also need some nice buttons.
